Distributed Control System (DCS) is a computer control system for a process or plant that often has multiple controllers, in which automated monitors are distributed throughout the system, but there is no central operator control. This is in contrast to systems that use central controls, separate controllers located in the central control room or the central computer. The concept of DCS increases the cost of reliability and reduces installation costs, by remote control and control, by performing regulatory tasks close to the process installation.
